Brief/Context
‘You will explore a range of creative ideas to produce a design solution for something you are passionate about; music, gaming, sports, fashion, or food. This could be an illustration of the ultimate sneaker design, a creative logo for an indie band, or a prototype for the world's best food ordering app.’ I ended up choosing to make a zine design with quotes from my favourite book ‘Fruits of the Earth by Andre Gide’ This brief was to put our newly learned skills (adobe ect) into a design context.
The Concept
I took my favourite quotes from the book and interpreted them in my own way, for example ‘Every creature is capable of nakedness and every emotion of plenitude.’ I wanted to include both a human and an animal to highlight how we are not so different from them and experience the same emotions even if we only communicated with our eyes. I used a risto-inspired design to make both elements stand out and create a striking contrast. For the typography I wanted to have a cursive feel as that's what I think about when reading poetry, to give a more personalised feel I printed out all the words and cut them and individually glued them onto the page. I really wanted this design to be personal to me as this book resonated with me.
